Why do I wake up several times during the night?

Many people don’t wake up once but several times. Sometimes briefly, sometimes fully.

What is happening?

Sleep works in cycles. Between cycles, your body comes closer to waking. Normally you don’t notice. But small disturbances turn these into awakenings.

Common causes

  • Pressure points

  • Poor body support

  • Temperature fluctuations

  • Breathing issues

  • Nervous system sensitivity

Why it matters?

Even if you don’t remember waking up, your sleep becomes fragmented and your sleep well become less restful.

What helps?

Practical observation

Better support and breathable materials often reduce awakenings considerably.

Natural sleep materials can support more continuous, uninterrupted sleep. If you want to explore how natural materials like natural latex and alpaca wool can support better sleep, you can find more information here.
